Thank you so much for your consideration.

►Next Sunday . . .

The Lord’s Supper will be served on the second Sunday this month in the sanctuary. We will have the blessing of the backpacks, just before students return to their classrooms at the start of a new school year. This also will be bring-a-friend Sunday.

►Directory is ready

After many hours of uploading and updating addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, anniversaries and pictures, the church directory is complete and ready for you to pick up Sunday morning in the fellowship hall.

A huge thank-you to Susan Pichoff, who coordinated and completed the work to provide a new, updated directory for our church.

Please tell her “thank you” for a job well done.

God is good all the time.

Christmas market crafts

Once a week on Thursday, starting in August, we will meet in the fellowship hall for freestyle crafts from 10 a.m. until about noon. If you are interested in staying until 2 p.m. to finish your crafts, the doors will be open. Bring your own lunch if desired.

Except on the special dates listed below, you will be working on your own projects. Please bring your supplies.

■ Sept. 18 — 10 a.m. to noon
     • Rose will create and share instructions with us on making a poinsettia ornament out of ribbon.
     • Karen will demonstrate how to create unique pens with beads.
     • Stephanie will demonstrate how to make a wreath ornament.

■ All items made at our meetings are to be used for the Christmas market only. You will be able to purchase them at the market.

Mission and service
►Food pantry

Open Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.

This week, the food pantry served 63 families, including 234 people.

If you are interested in helping or know of someone who might be interested, please consider getting involved or at least share the opportunity to volunteer with others.

If you have questions or want to volunteer, please contact the church office at 251-943-8367 or email.

Faith development
►‘Snacks with Susan and Daryl’ discussion class

Sundays from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in annex room 4

The class will continue to watch and discuss the video series “Unoffendable” by Brant Hansen.

Having “righteous anger” is just a myth. While we all will get angry at times — after all, we are human — the Bible tells us we are not to hold onto it. In fact, Christians are supposed to forfeit their right to be offended — and give up their right to be angry. And as it turns out, when we do this we will find it to be one of the most freeing, healthy, simplifying, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, encouraging things that we can do.

Learn to live life with less stress and more care by:
adjusting our expectations to fit human nature
replacing perpetual anger with refreshing humility and gratitude
and embracing forgiveness and beginning to love others in unexpected ways.

This study lifts religious burdens from our backs and allows us to experience the joy of gratitude every day of their lives — flourishing the way God intended.

Join us on Sunday mornings at 9 in annex room 4 for a bite to eat and some thought-provoking conversation

►Adult Bible study class, led by Bill and Catherine

Sundays from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in annex room 2

Today the adult Bible study class will continue the study of Leviticus, focusing on chapters 2 and 3 (The Meal Offering).

The third book of the Pentateuch contains commandments given to Moses by God at the foot of Mount Sinai over about a one-month period just prior to the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land.

Leviticus contains instructions for worship and personal holiness. Although the New Testament (the New Covenant) abrogates Old Testament ceremonial law, the Levitical priesthood, and the sanctuary, the Book of Leviticus offers us greater insight into the nature of God and how He wants us to relate to Him.

If you are new to the class, don’t worry about missing previous lessons. As in the rest of the Bible, each verse is almost a lesson in itself. Visitors and new class members are always welcome. We have coffee brewed and take turns bringing pastries.

The class meets in annex room 2 on Sundays at 9 a.m. We look forward to seeing you.
