The Presbyterian Women of Government Street Presbyterian Church will host the presbytery-wide Spring Gathering on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at the church. The Rev. Eugenia Gamble will speak about her book “Tending the Wild Garden: Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit.” The cost is $15 and includes lunch. Please RSVP by April 17. If you are interested in attending this gathering, please call the Swift Church office or email swiftpc@gulftel.com and let us know so that a group can carpool together if desired.

The food pantry is open every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. to serve the community.
This week, we served 58 families and 181 people.
If you are interested in helping or know of someone who might be interested, please consider getting involved or at least share the opportunity to volunteer with others.

Please call the church or email to notify us of any joys or concerns; birthdays, anniversaries, health issues or family deaths so that we may put it in the weekly emailed announcements for your church family to pray with you or to praise God for your joy. (We don’t publish personal prayer concerns on the website.)
Hayden continues to persevere and come out stronger on the other side. Just being around her, it would almost seem that she is just fine. She is eating and drinking well, cracking jokes, talking with friends, playing games, and looks like her normal self (with the exception of the beautiful fuzz growing on her head). However, we know her body is still extremely fragile and we have to remind ourselves that she is still relatively early in her BMT recovery. We are fortunate that she trusts us in her care even though it requires her to take extra medications, be isolated from being around her friends, constant blood draws, and missing opportunities like starting band and participating in activities she enjoys for at least a year now. At least we can look forward to her “catching up” at some point. There are many that never get the opportunity, so we are optimistic and thankful for the possibilities ahead.
Hayden is being followed in Birmingham, which shortens the drive from 10 hours to three hours. She is receiving pentamidine through IV, which will have to be provided every three weeks. Some of her blood counts are down, while other counts were steady. The decrease is not alarming, as her numbers will rise and fall, but it will require weekly blood draws locally in between Birmingham trips to know if she needs any “boosts” or not. The Birmingham team was very impressed with Hayden’s recovery to this point and are glad to coordinate with Cincinnati on her continued progress. Thanks to everyone for your continued support and prayers.
