    “Love Outside the Church”

    Scripture: Romans 12:9–21

    ■ We will serve the Lord’s Supper by intinction at both services. All are invited to the table.

    Food pantry donation day — Even though we are receiving some food from “Feeding the Gulf Coast,” we also have clients who do not qualify for that program. We still need your donations for those clients. Suggestions are: boxed meals, vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, fruit, etc.

    • Children in room 3 in the annex.
    Topic: Fruitful living for children. Led by Kathy Menk.

    Topic: Paul’s letters. Led by Andrew King.

    Worship service in the sanctuary
     Hearing assistance devices are available in the back
    of the sanctuary. Please see a greeter.
     After “Time with the children,” those in preschool
    and younger may go to the nursery.
    Those in grades K–4 will stay in the sanctuary for communion.

    ■ Fellowship time — Please join us in the fellowship hall
    for light refreshments and conversation with the church family.


    ■ Pastor Keith and Lisa will lead worship at Live Oak Assisted Living at 1 p.m. They will also serve communion. Everyone is invited and welcome.

    ■ Printed copies of the October newsletter are available in the back of the church, along with copies of Our Daily Bread.

    Flowers are placed in memory and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

    Wednesday, Oct. 9 — Preschool board meeting, 12:30 p.m. in room 2 in the annex

    Friday, Oct. 11 — English as a second language class, 9 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall

    Sunday, Oct. 13 — Dedication of Swift Church historical marker, 3 p.m. in the chapel, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Please contact Pastor Jody Beth or Elder Mark Melton to help with the reception or sign up on the sheets in the back of the chapel and sanctuary. The marker has been placed on County Road 20 near Coleman Lane as part of the Baldwin County Bicentennial Celebration.

    Wednesday, Oct. 16 — No handbell rehearsal today

    Thursday, Oct. 17 — Bible study on the Gospel of Matthew, 10 to 11:30 a.m. in room 2 in the annex

    Friday, Oct. 18 — English as a second language class, 9 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall

    Sunday, Oct. 20 — Fall festival, 4 to 6 p.m. (See below.)

    Thursday morning Bible study 

    A 12-week Bible study based on the Gospel of Matthew began Sept. 19. This study uses the Bible and a study book, Six Themes in Matthew Everyone Should Know. Pastor Jody Beth and Elder Philip Melton facilitate. The cost is $12 and scholarships are available.

    This group will continue to gather in room 2 in the annex from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays through Dec. 12, with Thanksgiving off. Come for study and fellowship. Contact Pastor Jody Beth for more information and to sign up,, 213-6625.

    Upcoming events for children and youth 

    Fall festival Oct. 20 will be a fundraiser

    The fall festival will be Sunday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. The youth will be in charge of the fall festival as a fundraiser. We will have soups, trunk-or-treat, costume contest, games, and a hayride. Lots of fun for everyone! Come and support the youth. Please let Tara Morrow or the church office know if you would like to bring a crockpot of soup and/or participate in trunk-or-treat.
