    ►Volunteers for online worship

As more children drop out as acolyte volunteers, or adults as “time with the children” volunteers, Greg McNair needs your help by offering to be a part of these important endeavors of our online worship services. It only takes a few minutes of your time to record your part of the service and does not have to be done each week. Contact Greg at 251-965-1003 or gregmcnair@centurylink.net.

    Christmas pageant help needed

Christmas is rapidly approaching and plans are being made for our celebration. With the input from session, it was decided that our Christmas program will be a virtual Christmas pageant. It will be premiered on Christmas Eve. We have selected one called “Do Not Be Afraid.” We will need lots of help with this. Here’s how you can get involved:

We need individuals and families to sign up to read, wear a simple costume, and act out a scene. Lines do not need to be memorized. Most of the scenes are short and simple. The characters are the usual characters in the nativity: Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, Caesar, King Herod, wise men, angels, and shepherds. There are also four scenes which involve a grown-up and child(ren).

We can have four different grown-ups and children for those four scenes as well as four Mary characters, etc. We would love for there to be enough participation that different people will be in each scene. We could also use some help in organizing and ensuring that everyone has costumes. We will need the videos turned into the church by Dec. 1. It will take a while to put it together from a virtual standpoint.

We will not be having a beginner handbell choir so that the members can focus on being involved in a scene for the virtual Christmas program.

Thanks in advance for your participation in this new adventure. With the talent in our congregation, it is sure to be meaningful and beautiful. Please contact Keith or Lisa if you can be involved.

    Radical hospitality

We continue to practice radical hospitality by ongoing contact with our church family. Let us welcome God in, receive God’s love and make room for God in our lives. Let us pray that we all will soon be together again, focusing on receiving God’s love and sharing it with others.

    Intentional faith development
►‘Snacks with Susan and Daryl’ Sunday school class

Starting this Sunday, Nov. 15, we will begin an Advent study with Adam Hamilton about Jesus from Mary’s point of view. We hope that you can join us in the fellowship hall at 9 a.m.

►Adult Sunday school class, led by Cheryl

We will meet with “Snacks with Susan and Daryl” (during Cheryl’s absence) this Sunday in the fellowship hall at 9 a.m.

    ►Online ‘Zoom’ Bible study

The Thursday morning Bible study group that has been meeting online through Zoom is taking a break until the new year, when they will finish the study of Exodus.

Contact Pastor Jody Beth, 251-213-6625 for more information.

    ►Note from Pastor Jody Beth

    Swift family,
Caring about you is what I feel called to do. I like the Southern expression, “loving on” someone. And I appreciate how you “love on” me, not just for Pastor Appreciation Month (thank you for the kind words and Tanger card) but all year long. Together, may we continue to be the hands and feet of Christ Jesus. Thanks be to God.

    Risk-taking mission and service
    ►Food pantry update

The food pantry is our “moment for mission” in November. Please add to your regular monthly offering any additional monies you would like to designate for the pantry. These monies will go toward purchasing turkeys for Thanksgiving bags and extra supplies to help make up a tasty Thanksgiving dinner for those in need.

The food pantry gave out 25 bags on Nov. 11, helping 52 people, and will be open again on Nov. 25 to give out Thanksgiving bags. Hours are 10 to 11 a.m.

Dorothy Warren has accepted the responsibility as food pantry coordinator. There are numerous volunteer opportunities to help Dorothy with this important mission. Please contact her at 251-424-5117 if you can help.

    ►Swift financial help

If you are in financial need from damage and during recovery from hurricanes or from lack of work, medical bills, or other reasons, please contact Pastors Keith or Jody Beth for financial assistance.

Wonderful Swift folks are ready to provide a meal or wash laundry to ease your recovery burden. Contact Pastor Jody Beth and she’ll get this lined up for you.

    ►Warning on email, text messages

If you receive an email or text message that appears to be from Pastor Keith requesting money or one that seems suspicious, please contact Pastor Keith before responding.

    Extravagant generosity
    ►Tithes and offerings

Thank you for your generous and ongoing offerings. Your financial support, through checks or online giving through our website, enable Swift Church ministry to continue. Our goal for 2021 pledges is $170,500. So far we have received pledges for $94,700. Please return your pledge card to the church office via mail or drop into Sunday’s offering plate.

    Prayers and joys
    ►Please let us know . . .

Please call the church or email to notify us of any joys or concerns; birthdays, anniversaries, health issues or family deaths so that we may put it in the weekly emailed announcements for your church family to pray with you or to praise God for your joy. (We don’t publish personal prayer concerns on the website.)
